Sustainable Development – Environment Health and Safety (EHS) Management to Improve Performance an

A company’s commitment to sustainable development can be a rewarding process that is fulfilled by improving performance in Environment Health and Safety (EHS) Management.  This will ensure a company’s development while respecting the environment and employee wellbeing and convey a positive image for clients, shareholders and the general public.

EHS Management can help improve a company’s performance by implementing preventive or corrective measures to reduce risks to employees and/or the environment. This approach may include one or more of the following:

• Corporate EHS audit programs for companies with activities located around the world. These audits allow the assessment of the industrial facilities’ compliance with applicable regulations, corporate standards and best practices, then define actions and associated compliance costs.
• Elaboration of personalized tools such as EHS regulatory intelligence, procedures and standards adapted to the company activities, training modules (EHS awareness, regulations, etc.).
• Certification of environmental management systems and/or safety management systems under internationally recognized standards such as ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
• Environmental reporting for example the Annual Sustainable Development Report required for corporations quoted on the CAC 40 French bourse (Loi NRE -Nouvelle Réglementation Economique).
• Energy control and reduction of green house gases: the realisation of technical assessments (Carbon Balance, energy efficiency studies, etc.).
• Environmental site assessments (ESA) to evaluate the impacts, risks and associated costs (liabilities) of site activities on soil & groundwater beneath the site as well as on the surrounding environment.

Each of these programs includes a specific set of concrete actions and their associated costs for improving performance and reducing financial risk as well as risks to employees and the environment based on a detailed and expert evaluation.
