Club 600 Entrepreneurship Award Announcing 2009 Edition

The Award is a business plan competition designed to helping young francophone entrepreneurs succeed in the US market. The winner receives a cash prize of $10,000 as well as one year of business coaching services from a Club 600 consultancy team with relevant business and industry experience.

The winner of the 2008 award, which was given in New York City last November, was the Fruition Sciences project, co-founded by Sebastien Payen and Thibaut Scholash. Fruition Sciences focuses on helping individual wineries capture data from vineyards with innovative sensors and then analyze the data to improve consistency, yield and quality.

“The goal of this award is to help deserving young Franco-American entrepreneurs get their business off the ground. The Fruition Sciences project by Sebastien Payen and Thibaut Scholasch really stood out for bringing new technology and innovation to a traditional industry.” said Emmanuel Cargill, Club 600 Entrepreneurship Award Committee Chair. “In this economic climate, starting a new business is a challenging venture and we hope this program will help to generate a whole new generation of entrepreneurs”, he added.

In order to be eligible to participate in the competition, the proposed project must be in a pre-launch or start-up phase, for profit, for the US market and led by a young (under 35) French speaker.  Each candidate is expected to submit a business plan by September 20th, 2009 according to the format provided by Club 600.  The competition is judged by a group of Club 600 members.

Club 600 was established in 1985 by a group of French business executives in New York City.  Their intention was to create a forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences among Francophones living in New York and to contribute to the development of economic, commercial and financial relations between French and American business entities.

The Club continues the same mission and today is composed of more than 100 members in four chapters (New York, Miami, France and Mexico), all senior executives and owners of U.S. companies.
