AmCham member Genzyme moves to Gerland Lyonbiopôle Cluster

Genzyme, a leader in medical biotechnology and an AmCham member, has moved into a new office in the biotechnology cluster near Stade de Gerland, in the south of Lyon. The work on the site started in 2008 and recently around 100 Genzyme employees with secretarial and administrative functions moved to the new location from their former office in Champage-au-Mont-D’or (Northwest suburbs of Lyon). They will be joined by the colleagues in production (currently based in Marcy-l’Etoile) in 2011.

The Lyon-Gerland Lyonbiopôle cluster has worldwide renown in biotech, offering companies an ideal environment for modern and advanced research and innovation activities. The cluster already is home to companies such as Merial, bioMérieux and Sanofi Pasteur. Genzyme is a natural fit, as it is an international leader in the biotech industry. With their new facilities, Genzyme will be able to double its production capacity of thymoglobuline, a polyclonal antibody used for organ transplants or bone marrow.
